HANDSTITCHED COPTIC BINDING
Sorry I didn't talk about this during todays class but I have a journal ^^that I bought from the Met in 2009 and I'm glad I happened to have it here with me at school but it has a HANDSTITCHED COPTIC BINDING which allows for the journal to lay completely flat as you can see in the picture I took. The company that made my journal is "paperblanks handstitched masters". I will bring the journal to class on Wed. :)

New Yorker’s mysterious photo quest ends in Paris
I found this article on yahoo. (I feel like I find the most random stuff to share with you guys) And it's this crazy story about a guy who found a roll of film on the ground in New York. He decided to develop the film and started a quest to find the owner of the film.. he made 3 videos about this journey he went on and I found this story really amazing.
Here is the first video.
The story is written here.

MyPicTales Coupon Trouble
Hello everyone!
For people who are trying to use their coupons for MyPicTales and are having trouble, don't give up! I spoke with Wendy from their support team and she contacted the dealist. She said for some reason my name was not on the list sent to them of coupon buyers. But everything is worked out now. So, if you contact MyPicTales support team and ask for Wendy, she will probably assume the same thing happened with you. k thanks bye.

Lake lights up at night
I found these pictures of a lake that glows in the dark at night. I thought it was pretty cool.
What happens to lakes in an area hit by forest fires and floods? Some will glow in the dark.
For a cluster of lakes in Australia's eastern Victoria, the combination of the fire and then the rain washed ash and nitrogen-rich soil into the water. The Gippsland Lakes experienced a rise in sea level. That caused the lakes to mix with sea water, which also raised the salinity.
This recipe led to the introduction of a species of algae called Noctiluca scintillans, commonly known as "sea sparkle." The bioluminescent brew gave the water a nocturnal glow.

Color pics of San Francisco after '06 quake found
I found this article and I thought it was interesting. It's about the first and only color photographs found of the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco. And the images are stereographs which I (and anyone who took history of photo last year) learned about in class. They are meant to be looked at through this thing that makes the image appear 3-D.
Here is the article.
Folio Book Publishing
LOOK BEFORE YOU PRINT
Now that you are about to send your FOLIO work to print- you should look at other works before making your final edit & layout.(FYI: NO ONE SHOULD SEND TO PRINT WITHOUT ME LOOKING IT OVER)
perhaps you want to look at artist run, self publishing photo sales and distribution. Monday, March 21, 2011

Photo Publishing Reviews
I mentioned a site that talks about photo books in terms of production value.
Look for the company you are using to make your book, and adjust design and layout accordingly.
she mentions: paper stock, paper finish, binding and covers... Photo Book Girl

Elena Kalis Photography
Elena Kalis Photography- She does mostly underwater photos of just children, all of the photos I've seen of hers are just little girls. She has a series of photos based off of Alice In Wonderland, so I strongly recommend looking through that in particular and also her work on in general on the website :) enjoy!

Coupons COUPONS, COOOOOOUPONS!
well since ALL I posted this week was coupons I figured I'd post this one too even though it has nothing to do with art....
For each $5 donation to the American Red Cross for the Earthquake in Japan (if you don't know what I'm talking about please read a Newspaper), LivingSocial will donate another $5. So if you do that math you just donated $10 to a good cause!
Decorative Papers
After many people showed interest in the lovely paper Alysia Brown used to cover her book, I thought you might be interested in the website. The bookstore carries the papers, but they rotate through a few different styles, I think the book store is actually a bit cheaper....but if there's a paper you really want it would be worth it to make an order.

The Rain does some funny things to me...
I just thought that this was so endearing
quite possibly because its raining out,
and any glimmer of hope or positivity
makes me grin and think
"wow, how endearing"
so, click and enjoy
see, to me
this type of project, really gets me thinking,
'what else could we do with this??'
'float messages?'
'float artwork?'
maybe someone else has another
glimmer, rainy day, idea

Airplane Wifi
I am currently flying at 20,000 feet, using the internet. I may be a little late in learning about this new technology, but it is really cool! I have no idea how it works, but wifi on airplanes is the best idea ever!
In other news, I got to watch a man being strip searched because he smelled like drugs.
Happy spring breaking everyone!
